Partners in Crime

From the moment Trent & I met we were best friends. Seriously. We talked and laughed the whole night and have been inseparable ever since! There hasn't been one single day since I've met him that I haven't laughed! And we met in November 2007!
Sometimes we get into trouble because we are so alike. Neither one of us is high maintenance or uptight (which can be a good thing in small doses!) so we have to work together to make sure things get done and we are on the right track. (Getting homework done, being reverent in church, not playing games or making fun of people at church, not skating on a Sunday, going to work and not pretending to be sick on a nice day, not going out to eat everyday, saving money, etc.) Plus we are both the youngest child, so we like to PLAY! Don't get me wrong, we do work fo sho, but all work and no play...is umm..not good.

Hah, we have so much fun.

Soap Box

This story moved me a lot. I have a lot of dear friends who are or are married to people who are from other countries and although they have lived in America and worked here for most of their lives, are denied privileges and faced with deportation. I can't imagine how awful it would be if one of my close friends was forced to leave even though they had been good contributors to our country for their whole lives.

Now let me say that yeah, I'm totally Republican when it comes to economics. I believe that you should be able to reap what you sow; that there should be programs in place to help those who are less fortunate but that there need to be qualifying factors so that not just anyone can take advantage of government programs; I believe that the government is there to help its people, not to control them. Being coddled is a form of control; I believe that if you want something you have to work for it, it shouldn't just be handed to you.

With that said, I do think that in order to take advantage of the privileges of this country you need to be a contributor. But how are people like Felip Matos supposed to contribute if there are no opportunities for him to do so? And isn't it hypocritical of us to say that a person hasn't or can't contribute to our country when  that person has grown up here, gone to school here, even worked here?

We take advantage of illegal immigrants for cheap work and then tell them to get out.

Bleh.

There needs to be immigration reform. There needs to be more attention paid to this issue. I love the "Dream Act" because it focus's on minors who have grown up here but their parents may have been "illegal". If you grew up in America and were sent to another country, can you imagine how hard that would be?

Well, I'm sure I am missing huge factors in this whole thing. I am also not the most politically savvy person. All I know is that it is too hard to become "legal" in this country and that we are actually hurting ourselves by denying or excessively prolonging a person "legalization".

That's all.

LB time

Since I sit in a chair all day, (at a computer in a room with no windows, woo!) I get real antsy to do something after work! So yesterday Trent and I decided to go longboarding! Technically it was a clear day, just excessively cold! I was already feeling sick but I just didn't want to miss it! I went home sore, freezing, head aching, and happy.

"And yet there was but one woman to him, and that woman was the late Irene Adler, of dubious and questionable memory."
-Sherlock Holmes, A Scandal in Bohemia

Irene Adler from the  was always one of my favorite fictional characters. She was an independent woman in a time when that was improper, she outsmarted Sherlock and looked great doing it! In the movie, (yay Rachel McAdams!! She did so good!) Irene wears all these different outfits but I love the ones that were "masculine" for the time! Especially the 3 piece suit that she wears at the end. I couldn't find a great picture of the whole suit but you can kind of get the idea. I really loved the whole feel of the movie as well with all the old English style and the amazing direction of my favorite director, Guy Ritchie! I would love my future home to have and excessive amount of bookshelves filled with copious amounts of old books and a ladder that is on wheels to go around the whole thing! I would have a big comfy leather chair huge paned windows. Yup. I love this movie and Irene Adler is a bad a**.

5 Muzaks

That you might not have known I like. In fact, I am slightly embarrassed about a couple! (Namely Fall Out Boy) At age 18 I totally thought I was so hip, only listening to underground non-mainstream rock that was totally musically narly man. This actually lasted until I met my husband. When we met the fact that he was more into rap/hip hop than rock was seriously something I had to get over! Lame right? Well, I introduced him to Led Zeppelin and he made me realize that I could totally enjoy poppy stuff! He taught me just to like whatever made me feel good and not worry about how mainstream it was. (Um, I really like Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA" and Yellowcard's "Ocean Avenue" not to mention some Taylor Swift.)

So here's 5 main stream "rock" groups that I have recently decided to "come out" about.

I know they're not super embarrassing, buuuuttt my 18 year old self would have ralphed!

Urban Outfitters

So I know Urban Outfitters is like the bees knees right now, what with their overly tall skinny sickly models and their "cool" 90's style.....okay so I'm not the biggest fan. I dig it, but I am not in love. Maybe its because I am not 5"11 and don't weigh 100 pounds, I dunno, Im not a doctor. Mostly I like their apartment stuff buuutttttt thankfully they have put out some stuff that I would actually wear in their Spring line! K, so when they get it right, they get it right! My fav is the satchel in the photo with the girl and the umbrella! I think I need that for school...HINT HINT

any one else like my crappily photoshoped montage? i sure do.

lights...camera...wait. what?

Wowzas. So work picked up! I am currently writing and directing this information video that will be shown (if it's good enough) at the "All Employee Meeting" on campus in April. I was waiting on some script stuff to come back from the head of IT for like the past month. I have been bugging him about it like once a week but he's a busy guy. So finally, (he should have done this sooner), he referred me to the guy who writes up the strategic plans for IT. I have a week to write the script, a week to edit the script, a week to shoot the video and a week to edit it. Or there abouts. This is my first foray into anything film making, so I wonder how this will go? Maybe Ill fill it with tons of special effects...then they won't notice anything else....mwaahahaha!

i want that (to be said in a deep hick voice)

its beautiful. i want it all!
